ACG Public Meeting: War is the Health of the State

What might a working class anti-militarism might look like? How might we build such a movement of anti-capitalist war resistance?

Capitalism means war, war for the expansion of economic zones of influence and markets.

Historically, anarchist communists have argued that war is the health of the state and that the enemy in any war is primarily at home – that is, the ruling class of the state in which the anarchist communist resides. They have tended not to take sides when nation states and imperialist powers have clashed in defence of their own national and imperial interests and have called upon the working class of all lands to fight in no war but the class war.

Anti-militarism, therefore, has long been a focus of revolutionary activity for anarchists.

This public meeting, featuring speakers from the ACG and beyond, will look at what a working class anti-militarism might look like and how we might build such a movement of anti-capitalist war resistance. As at all ACG public meetings, participants are encouraged to bring their ideas and contribute to the discussion.

Join us on April 23rd at 19.00 for an evening of anti-militarist discussion.
